Have we got dual controlled police vehicles now?

Two officers were driving apparently. What gives?

Ken

Probably.

However, I make no apology for that. It's just me and that's the way I am.

I do get sick and tired of the news media reporting opinion as fact like "the car lost control" etc.

I would like news to be just the facts, only the facts and nothing but the facts.

We can all have different opinions based on the facts. We may speculate as to what might have happend and the news media in general has to come up with something to fill pages or time I guess.

795159 2009-07-26 03:10:00 So we shouldn't be saying stuff like "The family drove to Wellington."? the_bogan (9949)
795160 2009-07-26 03:14:00 The police are trained to drive as a driver and co-driver - so the guy in the left seat is calling traffic, hazards, handling the radio etc. Deane F (8204)

An interesting proposal. I don't think it has ever been tried.

I would think you should not.

Considering that the family may have boarded a bus and none of the family members were driving for example.

You could say that the family went to Wellington and one family member was driving. There are cases where a family may share driving or even friends may share driving for that matter.

Take an example where a number of people are in a Van and for whatever reason these people are spread over the road and are dead.

Who was driving the Van?

Fingerprints on the steering wheel may give you a clue but these people may be completley innocent in so far as at this stage we don't know if another vehicle was involved.

So are police entirely different to the rest of us?

The person behind the steering wheel has charge of foot pedals which will make the vehicle go faster or slower. The person in the left seat presumably can't reach these until too late.

Makes note to never drive a car unless I have a co-driver.

Person in left seat says to driver, "We are going through a forest. Watch out for the trees as one might jump into your path of travel."

I think not.

795165 2009-07-26 05:17:00 The co-driver would be working like a rally car co-driver possibly as others have said calling out hazards etc gary67 (56)
