879707 2010-04-25 01:08:00 I downloaded a film and found the sound to be off, like tapping your thoat as you speak,(roughly!)

I thought it was the film till I tried from my music, just the same!

Am running spybot at the moment.

What can the matter be?

879708 2010-04-25 01:18:00 To determine if it is hardware or software related, have you a Linux live CD?
If so, boot that and see if the sound is OK
If it is then the problem is software related (driver issues probably)
If not then hardware (failing chip or poor connections?)

Try some other form of Media to make sure Eg: A music CD.

879713 2010-04-25 02:09:00 Can you download this one and burn as disk image?
www.puppylinux.org
If not I could post you one.
failing that you could try rebooting.
Reinstalling the sound drivers.
Is it on board or a PCI card?
Have you added any hardware or software recently?
Made changes to the system?
