879698 2010-04-25 00:37:00 It seems that I have inadvertently deleted the drivers for the Pioneer DVD+RW DVR-109 drive.

I have a dual boot system with 2 HDDs. One HDD has 2K Pro and the other has XP Pro.

The DVD drive is shared by both systems. XP Pro runs the DVD drive ok but 2K cannot see it. e.g. If I am running XP and put a Disk in the drive all is as normal but if I am running 2K and I put a Disk in the drive nothing happens. I have checked in Hardware and sure enough the Drive is not there.

Suggestions please.

879699 2010-04-25 00:38:00 Go to device manager / action scan for hardware changes. See if it comes back. Or reboot, it should come back Speedy Gonzales (78)
879700 2010-04-25 01:08:00 this is for xp/vista/7
but applies equally to 2000
(warning this involves editing the registry, so back up first)

879702 2010-04-25 01:15:00 I've been there and the result is a message to the effect that Device Manager cannot find the drivers. As I mentioned in my first post "I must have deleted them". I have CDs but they won't work until the drive is working (In 2K that is). My only input devices are Floppy or USB drive. bluenose (14548)
879703 2010-04-25 01:22:00 copy the drivers from the cd to the 2000 partition while in XP.
Or copy them to the USB drive.

879705 2010-04-25 01:59:00 Yay!!! I now have 2 (logical) working DVD/CD drives.

The registry hack fixed the problem.

Thanks guys. Chocolate fish all around. Milk or Dark choc?
