2009-08-02 09:16:00 | I am with slingshot as well, have you tried a different adsl modem. Here's my findings With 3COM modem Download Speed: 14917 kbps Upload Speed: 716 kbps Latency: 9 ms With DrayTek Vigor 2800 series Download Speed: 6917 kbps Upload Speed: 596 kbps Latency: 11 ms I don't really know why but I get different speeds with different modems. See if you can get hold of another adsl modem what do a speedtest on that.

Or it may need a firmware update to make it perform better with your particular exchange/DSLAM. To the OP have you got another computer you can try on your connection? |

2009-08-02 09:58:00 | Are you using filters on all your telephones, fax, Sky box etc or do you have a central ADSL splitter installed? i.e. when you first got broadband did you do a self install or did a Telecom tech come out to your house and install it?

2009-08-02 10:04:00 | I have splitters on all connections... well the one connection =P | john101extreme (12019) | |
2009-08-02 10:49:00 | Try replacing the splitter that the modem uses with a *brand* new one and then unplugging all other devices. A few things: 1) Whats your modems Make / Model? 2) What is the SNR, or Signal to Noise Ratio in the modem status? 3) Ring your ISP, ask them what your nearest Exchange is (The ADSL Exchange you're on) and the address of it, look it up on maps.google.co.nz and figure out roughly how far from it you are and post back. 4) Ask your ISP if they are wholesaling off Telecom or if they have their own equipment in that exchange. If they can't give you a straight answer or are at all unsure, then they're wholesaling off Telecom and thats potentially a bad thing. 5) Run a speedtest as soon as you wake up, as soon as you get home from work, and right before bed 6) At the same time (Just after each speedtest) click Start --> Run --> cmd Enter: ping trademe.co.nz -n 10 Post back the Min, Max & Average ping times for each of the 3 times of the day By then we'll know the probable issue ;) Cheers Chill.
