| 796892 | 2009-07-31 22:19:00 | I want to ...... enter university to do a btech information technology degree. Now I want a short cut that will get me the credits quick and without much work Why? So you can sit on your bum and think you can cruise through Uni without any effort too? |

What are you waiting for you have the passion? | gary67 (56) | ||

Unlike NCEA, universities don't follow a "lower the bar until everybody can pass" approach. If you care about the topic, put some effort in. Also... don't expect to be spoonfed - you will need to get off your ass and find some things out for yourself. |

That about sums it up -- You are not going to get anything worth having for free in this line of work - you may come across a few " perkies" that are easy, but when have to do something tougher or prove you can do something (and it will happen) you have to be able to. Its always better in the long run if you had to work for something and succeed in what you are doing ( or at least give it a damn good go) - getting things handed to you on a plate or made "easy" wont do you any good what so ever. Why should every one else have to work hard when others can get the same for next to nothing ? |

| 796897 | 2009-08-01 00:29:00 | What you need to do is do the New Start course, thats if you are over 20. I have a nephew who has just started it. www.auckland.ac.nz :) |

| 796898 | 2009-08-01 02:15:00 | thx for all of your comments :banana Look i do not want to any thing hirer or lower in ncea i just want the needed credits. For a example as we all know btech information technology requires a rank score of 150 which is like 75 achievement credits. So what is the point in doing 5 more credits or even more plus they do not want u to have studied specific subjects. Sure if you do more courses you will have more knowledge but sadly i would not be able to use them so what i am gonna do i think is good. plus dont want to stress out i screwed high school already i am barely surviving |

| 796899 | 2009-08-01 03:47:00 | Sammoa who said you need "14 credits in in L3 Science, 14 in L3 Calc and 14 from two other 'recognised domains' . Unless you are over 21 I think . 20 . You can get into any Uni in NZ if you are 20 before the first day of Uni . Nothing else needed . This won't get you into the competitive programs such as law . . . |

| 796900 | 2009-08-01 04:53:00 | A) If you read it properly, you DO need (in addition to the rank score): * a minimum of 42 credits at Level 3 or higher on the National Qualifications Framework, including a minimum of 14 credits at Level 3 or higher in each of two subjects from the approved subject list, with a further 14 credits at Level 3 or higher taken from no more than two additional domains on the National Qualifications Framework or approved subjects. plus * a minimum of 14 credits at Level 1 or higher in Mathematics or Pāngarau on the National Qualifications Framework. plus * a minimum of 8 credits at Level 2 or higher in English or Te Reo Māori; 4 credits must be in reading and 4 credits must be in writing. These literacy credits are to be selected from a schedule of approved achievement standards and unit standards. B) Go and talk to the university, in person. If you aren't willing to do this you clearly aren't serious about it. C) Judging by what you have said so far, maybe it would be better to get a full time job, save some cash, grow up a bit, and then go to university when you turn 20 and can get in without the credits. |

| 796901 | 2009-08-01 06:19:00 | yeah george12 correct me if i am wrong but overall i will need only 75 credits because I mean i can use those 42 credits that they want for university entry and use a extra 33 credits. so 42 + 33 = 75 credits. It is just I do not have much time you know please correct me if i am wrong |
