2009-07-31 01:17:00 | [QUOTE=SolMiester;805843]I have to say I'm getting tired of groups calling for changes that effect all due to actions of the few. When will we get a governments to tackle the causes instead of looking to kneejerking for solutions to the symptoms[/QUOTE I am 100% with Solmiester just because some people cant handle their piss doesn't mean laws should affect people who can handle their piss. So what about binge drinking its just another name for drinking to get drunk which is a European tradition for thousands of years. I know some people might hate this and I am not flaming or trolling but imo I reckon just a few drinks is a waste of time, If you are going to drink do decent job out of it or dont bother drinking at all. Difference is I dont fight, drive or vandalize stuff when I am pissed When I am pissed my sad miserable life for a while is happy the music sounds better, all jokes are funny and best thing of all you can get the courage in the bottle to do things you wouldnt normally do.

2009-07-31 04:08:00 | handful of drunken drongos ruining it for the rest of us . . . . . . Those who like to go down the local for a few quiets Bit more than a handful I'd say . NZ (along with some other countries) does have a drinking culture problem . Most people I've seen seem to drink like pigs until they fall over . Who goes to "Have a few quiets" at 2 in the morning anyway?

2009-07-31 06:47:00 | Who goes to "Have a few quiets" at 2 in the morning anyway? Well you may have noticed some of my posts are in the small hours of the morning. Some of us work back-to-front hours at times. Having said that I haven't been to a pub in about 10 years, apart from a few drinkies at the airport bar when I've been travelling.

2009-07-31 07:07:00 | Ha, close them at 5pm up the drinking age to 30. Seriously stop selling alcohol at supermarkets would be a real start. If it was only available in pubs it would be a lot easier to regulate | gary67 (56) | |
2009-07-31 07:39:00 | x2 Its the ones that get drunk and aggressive that they should aim at. Not responsible drinkers just wanting to have a good time. Bring back the laws which said you cannot be drunk in a public place and bring in one against foul language and ENFORCE them like crazy. But I do think the drinking age should not have been lowered to 18 and that raising it back to 20 would be good. Or once again really enforce the age of 18 and bring in heavy penalties for drinkers who are under 18. And don't put the price up so that us older ones get penalised ! And start a pr campaign that says binge drinking is not OK. I've often been drunk in a public place but I don't have a tendency to show it.

2009-07-31 07:42:00 | I can see the logic in raising it to 20 for supermarkets/the like, you can be kicked out of a pub. But again, it is penalizing alot for the actions of, well, not a few, but you get the idea. Sure, I'm 18, I don't want to have to toddle off to the pub for a drink. As for prefect, I want to hate what you said, but I agree with you somewhat. So long as you're not causing trouble (IE driving/beating up some random/etc), you should be allowed to drink however you want. Some might disagree, but it's a free country. Anything else is a nanny state.
