| 796670 | 2009-07-31 05:01:00 | My mom was a full-blown "white" witch, to here her say it and I'd sometimes come home from school and she'd be sitting in the middle of five white candles, turning Tarot cards and telling the local Catholic priest's fortune . She believed that you had to rub the cut off ends of an eggplant counterclockwise three times to remove any poison it had in it (probably by some "black" witch, no doubt!) . She also believed and told both my sister and me that all animals, even household dogs and cats, could talk at midnight, Christmas eve . "Step on a crack and break your mother's back" was a constant reminder and I would quake in fear that on my way to school I'd forget and accidentally step on one and when I got home my mom would be lying in a heap at the foot of the stairs having fallen from her back suddenly and mysteriously snapping . |

We never had a fridge as a kid and if I remember the milk used to taste funny as it aged. Ken |
