796555 2009-07-30 11:29:00 Fortunately they include shipping in that price - I've bought a couple of small items from DealExtreme, and they've been OK terms of service and so on (they are based in Hong Kong, so their English isn't always great).

Yup I've brought from them 2. But read the 'edit' I made in the last post regarding these batteries.

796556 2009-07-30 22:24:00 Thanks very much guys! Yes, I tried TESA/Sanyo but all I got was… “While they may or may not have stock, they can arrange purchase from us. A few worth trying Mastertrade,Toyworld,Corys,Radcliffes,Ideal etc” BUT ALL the local stores I tried (including Warehouse) looked blankly at me !! Something wrong with TESA!
Anyway, following up on your appreciated suggestions, yes, PBTech at $29 if you are close to a store to pick up (otherwise +$15 freight !) but www.dealextreme.com offer a good price at approx $19nz (with as you say free shipping) so that’s where I’m heading. Really appreciate your help guys, thanks. If I’d come to you first I would have save a week searching!!

Have you read the warning about fake batteries from Dealextreme? They claim to sell Eneloops but from buyer feedback the actual batteries come from several sources.

Google, now there's an idea :D Then you can go through the list of vendors that used to sell them once but are now out of stock.

The Warehouse at the Airport Wellington hasn't got any and I doubt they ever did. The only battery display is supplied by Eveready. Maybe they are still waiting for Sanyo to supply.

796560 2009-07-31 05:04:00 Dick Smith used to stock these batteries but no longer do - I bought 3-4 packets of both AA & AAA batteries last year but havent seen them in there now for awhile.

It's ashame as they are great rechargeable batteries and I'd certainly like to get my hands on some more.

796562 2009-07-31 08:20:00 Dick Smith sells DSE 'ready to use' NiMHs which they claim hold 80% charge after a year, so maybe they would be an acceptable alternative to eneloops. seltsam (13470)

I've already noted that but I don't think the discount for being an unknown house brand is enough. They also sell Varta which is a brand you can compare for only 50c more per battery. Consumer test from Dec 08 homepages.ihug.co.nz Varta actually come out on top, Eneloop 3rd.

796564 2009-08-05 11:56:00 Thanks for all your advice guys. I took the chance of ordering from Dealxtreme with some trepidation after reading some of the feedback. However, when I wrote to them insisting they only sent GENUINE ENELOOP they made excuses and now say… “but we are not sure if it is a GENUINE SANYO ENELOOP AA” Not sure???? ! So I have cancelled the order (they seem very accommodating!) and will head for the Varta version which I hope I can get through DSE or similar. What an experience this has been – glad I’m not spending out on a Ferrari and requesting someone to be sure it IS a Ferrari!! Thanks again guys. kapkol (15132)
