796790 2009-07-31 05:52:00 Hi guys, i'm looking to build a new garage. Can anyone here recommend good companies to go for or one's to avoid? Good/bad experience?
Cheers

796791 2009-07-31 06:41:00 Just had a good experience with Versatile.
They organise the consent and supply the garage kitset, then get sub-contractors to lay the slab and erect the garage.
In our case, the original concrete placer was hopeless - he didn't show twice - so Versatile fired him!
The replacement concrete placer was excellent and did a couple of extra things for us at no charge.
The erectors put it up in less than a day.
Neat job.

796799 2009-07-31 23:28:00 Hi wotz. About five years ago I moved in to Motueka from Riwaka and had Skyline build me a garage for use as a woodwork shop. During the prelim discussions I swapped the roller door for a matched pair of hinged doors and made several other small changes including the use of lining paper, some clear panels in the roof, installation of a small bathroom and, of course, power.
The only disagreement was over the concrete pad. They proposed pouring without steel, which the TDC permits nowadays for garages. I insisted on the steel and it cost me - probably about an additional $150.
Skyline (from Richmond) handled it all. Recommended - though the staff may have changed in the meantime.
