796545 2009-07-30 09:01:00 I see a number of posts about Sanyo Eneloop AA rechargeable batteries - these seem to set the standard for best quality AA Low Self Discharge. But can anyone suggest where these can be purchased in NZ at a reasonable price? Dse.com.au has them at $au23 but I can only find $nz41 quoted in NZ (dse don't stock them here). Surely there must be others in NZ stocking these? kapkol (15132)
796546 2009-07-30 09:38:00 I *think* warehouse stocks them. Blam (54)
796547 2009-07-30 09:47:00 PBTech appears to have them: pbtech.co.nz

An alternative to try is maybe your local camera/photo shop?

796548 2009-07-30 10:34:00 I don't think I've ever seen then at The Warehouse. In May '08 I asked Sanyo what had happened to Eneloops and their reply was

"At present eneloop batteries are distributed by Tesa Electronics, who can advise you where to purchase from a retail location, or direct through them. Sanyo is planning on expanding the retail presence of eneloop in New Zealand in the near future, however at this stage we recommend you contact Tesa, who is our official distributor."

TESA want $45 for 4 AA Eneloop :yuck: If Sanyo ever get around to "increasing their presence" they'll have to lower their price.

Ecobatteries http://www.ecobattery.co.nz/ sell 4 Vapex Instant AA $22 but they are also online.

DSE have their own brand $25 or Varta Ready2Use $27 for 4AA. I'd give the Varta a go or check the price of Panasonic Ready to Use at Woolworths/Countdown

796550 2009-07-30 10:38:00 Found some for significantly cheaper price.

www.dealextreme.com

Prices are USD.

Edit: Read the reviews, lots of comments about fakes being sent.

Fortunately they include shipping in that price - I've bought a couple of small items from DealExtreme, and they've been OK terms of service and so on (they are based in Hong Kong, so their English isn't always great).

No the ready to use type are NiMH that don't lose their charge as quick as normal rechargeable.

The are some non rechargeable 1.5 v AA that are Lithium Iron(not ion)
