796121 2009-07-29 08:29:00 I have just been given a Old ibm thinkpad T20 P3. Currently running windows2000, and running it perfectly fine for web purposes.
But I'm wanting to put linux on it to have a play around. Will there be suitable drivers around for it. I also have a Dlink wireless dongle(DWL-G122), are there linux drivers for this.
Thanks for all your help.:D

796122 2009-07-29 08:35:00 From experience the best way to find out is try and see. I don't know much about drivers but Ive had a pretty old generic computer running ubuntu 9.04 hueybot3000 (3646)
796123 2009-07-29 08:42:00 Try linux mint ubuntu based but more user friendly or try ubuntu possibly the previous version 8.04. I have an old P3 with only 512 of RAM and have run both of those but won't run 9.04, it also runs very nicely with puppy gary67 (56)
796124 2009-07-29 08:42:00 If old means pre-2000 forget Ubuntu, it probably wont even look at it Speedy Gonzales (78)
796125 2009-07-29 09:08:00 Well its running W2K so I doubt it speedy:p

Plod: Ubuntu may be slightly slow on it, but Xubuntu would be perfect

Xubuntu has a lighter less resource intensive interface.
