Or some kind of payroll software fileYes. I know who sent it but I wanted to try and open myself before I admitted defeat!! I googled it but got more confused by the info' available. The description of the file is: application/vnd.openxmlformats-officedocument.wordprocessingml.document I would have thought that MS Word would open it. Perhaps my 2003 version is too old.? |

OpenOffice may be able to read it if you have a recent version, but the formatting may be a bit messed up - it's not too good at reading OOXML documents yet. Finally, it looks like the file may have the wrong extension - files of that type should generally have a .docx or .docm extension. Do you know what the file is supposed to contain? ...Office isnt one of them.Office *is* what opens it, provided the OP has given us the correct mimetype (which they probably have). Mimetypes are usually a more reliable way of telling what a file is than the filename extension. |

It looks like I will have to upgrade my old MS 2003 version to a later edition. I am always keen to learn about these things and it is nice to get help such as yours. Cheers. |
