798703 2009-08-06 10:40:00 WHat if you upgrade from XP to Vista, or from Vista to Windows 7? Do you need to purchase a new copy. According to the microsoft terms for Digital downloads, it is not clear.

"Are these products Academic license(s)/version(s)?
No, these are retail versions, which provide all the benefits you would receive if you bought it at the store. " from: store.digitalriver.com ge&SiteID=msshnz&Locale=en_NZ&Env=BASE#q4

It sounds like you would be fine activating it multiple times as you upgrade your OS - email them and ask.

798705 2009-08-07 10:02:00 I have always thought that it is unfair and semi illegal to sell the same product to different people for such a large difference in price.
Eg can a student go and buy a brand new toyota for $10,000 ?

Yes disgraceful - mine cost me $20 for postage direct from Microsoft.
