882031 2010-05-03 04:33:00 I have always used NT Password reset and have never had any issues with it, however I've got a Tosh Satellite A200 that it just won't load up on, I've tried a bunch of switches but each time it either errors or stops on 'io scheduler deadline registered (default)'.

I know there are other utilities out there, but I've never had to use any of them so have pretty limited knowledge - what other utilities can reset a logon password in vista?

Cheers! :)

882034 2010-05-03 04:48:00 I have a Hiren boot cd here but found the Bart PE one much quicker and easier to use. But that's just me Dave! :) FAB (6923)
882035 2010-05-03 04:51:00 I'll have to try that one out, FAB. :)

(Just a thought, NT Password is a basic Linux.
Could it be made to boot from a USB flash drive?)

882037 2010-05-03 05:03:00 You can make a bootable USB key for Bart PE.

In saying that, i see AVG recently (?) released a very simple bootable CD/USB package (yes, free). I doubt it includes any locksmith type of util, but handy built-in virus scanner with signatures updatable over network connection...quite a handy tool.

Yeah Bart PE can do the same but can never have too many of these utils when you are desperate!

882039 2010-05-03 05:59:00 Too much drama getting BartPE to co-operate - downloaded HBCD, everything is sorted. Thanks both for your suggestions, especially Dave! :thanks wratterus (105)
