| 881647 | 2010-05-02 09:30:00 | Hi all, I'm looking for a small cross-platform http daemon that I can easily setup on Windows and Linux, maybe even Mac too. Ideally the more portable it is, the better, don't need many advanced features at all ... I was looking at cherokee-project but I can't get it easily working in Windows with PHP. So yeah, small and portable is what I'm looking for recommendations for please? Cheers Chill. |

Bundling that, a statically linked PHP CGI binary, and the config for both in the same package should make for a pretty easy to use system. Note that on Linux it makes more sense to link dynamically, as unlike Windows & OSX, that platform at least has a sane library & dependency management system. Edit: One other thought - just get me to rewrite that script of yours in C with an integrated webserver. I can't promise to do it immediately, as I'm pretty busy, but it would avoid the need to find a server, and do away with PHP entirely. It would also be extremely portable - C programs can easily be compiled for pretty much any target, provided platform-specific features aren't relied on. |
