881622 2010-05-02 01:39:00 Son has a netgear wireless modem. Modem is fine, wireless appears to not exist, with my PC and his old laptop.

Can't see why - the netgear choices for wireless is Channel - on auto, G and b, on both.......WEP, WPS etc...various of them, tried all plus tried no security at all.

None of the PCs can see any wireless at all.

Beats me why.........

881623 2010-05-02 01:48:00 Tried rechecking the "Hide SSID" is not activated -- what ever it is, tick / untick it, -- May need a"kick in the pants" to start/stop it ???

Just a thought-- is the Wireless card/adapter using its own wireless software or the Windows Zero Configuration - right click Wireless adapter under LAN settings/ properties, should be the wireless options tab.

881624 2010-05-02 01:51:00 Another thing to try is to fix it on a channel. I have seen auto channel selection play up way to many times. ughnz (8297)
881625 2010-05-02 02:02:00 It says Wireless connection enabled. But if I go to Networks, view Available wireless connections it says there are none. No internet unless I use the cable.
The SID name thing is enabled.

Is the SSID hidden or not?

881627 2010-05-02 02:55:00 So the wireless router radio is enabled?

Edit: Just a basic thought you do have the wireless switch turned on on the laptop right?

881628 2010-05-02 03:38:00 Which LED light status are currently lit at the moment, pctek? Renmoo (66)
881629 2010-05-02 05:13:00 Reset the router to defaults Agent_24 (57)
881630 2010-05-02 05:34:00 SSID not hidden.

No switch on laptop - it's fairly old, it's just on, we know the laptop does work with wireless.

The other PC that won't see it is mine. It would see my wireless at home, I didn't bring my modem though......

LEDS lit - LAN 1 and 2, ADSL, Power, Wireless.

Have reset the router 3 times and re-entered it all.
