| 882188 | 2010-05-04 04:06:00 | what if i boot ubuntu from a usb drive then download a windows 7 ultimate system32 folder??? | mattt (15756) | ||
| 882189 | 2010-05-04 04:32:00 | I'd be very surprised if it worked, the system 32 folder contains all sorts of dll and many other files. even if it did boot it would be very unstable. You may be better off saving all data via Ubuntu and doing a complete reinstall. To do a repair install correctly with W7 - you need to be able to boot into it first As described here (www.sevenforums.com) You cant do a system restore - because the exe system restore file was in the now deleted system32 folder. |

| 882191 | 2010-05-04 04:51:00 | The Windows 7 RC expires on June 1, 2010 and was free. So you would be a LOT better off just purchasing a full licensed version of your choice. You can do it via a upgrade DVD, but The Windows 7 beta or RC releases were Ultimate edition, so youll only be able to upgrade to the RTM (final) if you are installing Ultimate Edition, which is a LOT more expensive than the Home premium or Professional. |
