881474 2010-05-01 10:37:00 Really?!! Haha, there's a first...
I remember so many posts on this forum saying not to get driver updates from Windows Update, but to get them from the manufacturers sites direct! The times they are a-changin...

Yes I checked the Windows updates also and I'm still up to date.
Actually I just did another test (saved the outlook backup file again) and this time it seemed a lot faster. I only caught a glimse of the progress box but I think it said around 50MB/sec...is this close to the data transfer rate I should be expecting??

Even though it had already done a few reboots, I did one more when I noted down those BIOS settings in my previous post, so perhaps something triggered/finished installing after the last reboot??
Strange, but keeping my fingers crossed it will stay at a good speed again...

881475 2010-05-01 10:47:00 Yup The ASUS sound drivers for this are crappy. I use headphones. Turn the volume up it sounds like its only 1/2 way. And the videocard drivers from ASUS left a pixel on the screen. I thought it was a stuffed pixel on the monitor. It wasnt. It was a bug in the drivers lol

And the test PC that I installed Win7 on. It doesnt have any drivers for windows 7. So, I have to use its drivers (LAN/Sound). And they're fine. I think 50mb is faster than what I get here. So it should be good enough

881476 2010-05-01 11:05:00 I think all Asus sound drivers must be crappy actually..this MB has onboard sound, and the quality isn't the best out of that either.
Actually, getting off topic from this post, but I was researching that seperately, and I was reading a lot about audiodg.exe being buggy and having memory leaks, which I think is a file used with Windows Media player, did you find it was Windows Media player only that didn;t have great sound, or was it any music player?
