800056 2009-08-12 05:05:00 There is absolutely NO Internet Banking application that will run 24/7/365 .

All applications/servers need to have downtime at some point, usually on a regular basis .

Most businesses have planned outages scheduled for outside normal business hours . For an online banking system, this is generally in the wee hours, when most (sensible) people are tucked up in bed .

However, unplanned outages can and do occur for various reasons .

I suspect this is what was encountered here . No point in making a fuss about it - as is attributed to Forrest Gump (misquoted): "**** happens . "
Perhaps someone should suggest a stand -by server,or that too easy?

800057 2009-08-12 05:34:00 Or perhaps get their IT to do upgrades/maintenance at night?? like 1am instead of 8am
I certainly leave my non essential reboots and upgrades when there is no one in the office

As I mentioned - I suspect the outage reported here was an unplanned one.

I seriously doubt that any IT department would be dumb enough to schedule an outage part way into a business day... Even Kiwibank. :)

800059 2009-08-12 23:19:00 Haw Haw, are you sure? Normally an outfit like that (ie bank) would have plenty of redundancy that this would never happen. I know medium businesses with multi site switching just for email? The world crashes down when you cannot access your email. Gobe1 (6290)
