800606 2009-08-31 22:32:00 Whereabouts Wrat? Have they finished those alterations at the end of the Richmond Deviation/Queen St?

Yeah that's where, there is a second set there now that it's finished. There's also a set on the intersection of Talbot St and Salisbury roads, made everything slower but at least it is actually possible to turn across the traffic now. :p

It looks like they are trying to create a sort of Richmond ring road.

Kind of makes sense; Richmond Devn is pretty dangerous at peak times with the buildup of traffic causing queues at the Queen St intersection (have a piece of road here in Dunedin with the same problem!), and Queen St itself can be a shocker, especially with the doddery old buggers driving up and down there!!

800608 2009-08-31 22:47:00  Very true, very true. The railway hotel on the corner of Queen Street and Gladstone Road is all gone too, there is a maccas and bistro going up there.

800609 2009-08-31 22:54:00 Doesn't the Railway Hotel open for every train? It never used to miss. R2x1 (4628)
800610 2009-08-31 23:05:00 That was somewhat before my time... :D wratterus (105)
800611 2009-08-31 23:22:00 Still a shame an old building is going, especially for a bloody McDonalds :groan: nofam (9009)
800612 2009-08-31 23:31:00 Yeah it is, there was a bit of a moan, everyone asking why we needed another one as there are 4 in the region already.

I think their reason for putting one there was the one in the mall could only open when the mall was open, eg no late nights/weekends which I imagine would cut their potential profits in half.

800613 2009-09-01 01:12:00 You need more McDonald plastic food shops to get rid of all the recycled plastic. R2x1 (4628)
