| 881372 | 2010-05-01 05:31:00 | Do you want to create a Vista operating system disk that is bootable so you can re install Vista? A backup will not do that as such. You would need an O/S installed to restore a backup. Notes as to whether or not there is a hidden partition on the hard drive would be useful here. Or make and model if it is a brand name PC. |

| 881373 | 2010-05-01 05:51:00 | If you wanted to make a backup of the Drive, and store it someplace in case on a reinstall, you can use paragon Backup and Recovery (www.paragon-software.com) - it creates an image file of exactly how the drive is at the time, save it to an external source. Then with the recovery CD you can make from within the program, if the drive needs to be recovered, you boot from the the CD, aim it at the backup, and put the whole system back as it was. The program makes two files, both are needed to recover the system. |

System restore disk would imply singular as in one disk and I think that the OP may wish to create a copy of Vista which boots and contains the original software and drivers thus putting the PC back to as it was bought. Or not. |
