800050 2009-08-11 05:07:00 Yes Kiwibank seems to be less reliable than ASB or National Bank that's for sure. I think they fail to realise that Internet Banking is now a core service that a bank offers and it needs 24/7/365 uptime. Orca (3098)

It's lucky you have your money in all three banks.

800052 2009-08-11 06:35:00 Since we use both Kiwibank and ASB no one is better than the other they both have the odd bit of downtime for maintenance occasionally and personally Kiwibank site is much more user friendly gary67 (56)
800053 2009-08-12 01:37:00 Yeah, frankly I think that Kiwibank's online banking is the most functional by FAR.

Instant transfers from/to credit cards, international payments online, remembering one-off payees without needing to set them up as a bill payment, ability to instantly create online savings accounts are among the many features I miss.

And the National Bank online banking system is down more frequently than I've heard Kiwibank's is.

800054 2009-08-12 02:10:00 And it was early in the morning (for me at least)
Google Adwords often goes down for maintenance.

There is absolutely NO Internet Banking application that will run 24/7/365.

All applications/servers need to have downtime at some point, usually on a regular basis.

Most businesses have planned outages scheduled for outside normal business hours. For an online banking system, this is generally in the wee hours, when most (sensible) people are tucked up in bed.

However, unplanned outages can and do occur for various reasons.

I suspect this is what was encountered here. No point in making a fuss about it - as is attributed to Forrest Gump (misquoted): "**** happens."
