801216 2009-08-15 03:39:00 We have an old washing machine we want to get rid of. Does anyone know who accepts old machines (preferably free)? It seems a bit of a waste to take it to the dump, as there are some usable parts which could be salvaged from it and reused. somebody (208)

I think the tip/landfill down Owhiro Rd takes them...there's a recycling depot halfway up the long hill to the tipface.

Do you mean this place (www.wellington.govt.nz)? If so, I'll give them a call on Monday and see what they say.

Thanks - will keep that in mind for the future (this machine is dead - needs a new controller and pump - so it's only good for parts really).
