883181 2010-05-08 13:56:00 How to not get as much dust: use fans that suck air at a lesser speed, less air speed = less dust (I think). So try and use a big slow fan instead of a small fast one. forrest44 (754)
883182 2010-05-08 20:55:00 Can I get a vacumm with a small nozel to suck up the dust?

Yes, a handheld vacuum will do. Combination of paintbrush and vacuum is what I use.

Son's PC was so filthy with dust and grime I took the entire thing apart so I could get at it all. He one front fan which was a bit fiddly to get at but man, the dust build up in that one!!!

Must be from the deep south ... we tend to put as much insulation as possible in our computers to stop them freezing up in winter

883184 2010-05-08 22:26:00 By far the best way to reduce dust is to turn the darn thing off when it's not being used - that can cut the dust sucking time down by two thirds or more.

Otherwise, try to keep the case as far as possible away from wherever you walk, as your movement helps to stir up any dust that has settled.

883185 2010-05-08 23:14:00 Personally I use a Compressor, its set to 30psi Enough to blow out dust, yet you can put your hand over the nozzle and stop it, so generally not to high to damage PC components. Take the PC outside, both sides off the case, air line out the window - and clean.
For harder / stuck dirt on fans etc, I have a small paint brush to clean them first.

NEVER use a normal household Vacuum cleaner as they create static electricity -- Which is a NO NO to PC components. As Pctek said "hand Held" only.

Some Helpful Hints (www.cnet.com.au) on how to clean out a PC safely.

883186 2010-05-09 02:01:00 I think you can get a plug in dust ionizer/zapper thing, of which I recall one work mate used a few years back. kahawai chaser (3545)
883187 2010-05-09 08:45:00 Where abouts can i get some dust filters for my intake fans?

And about using a small paint brush, can I be rough on the graphics card board / mobo?

Gentle cleaning is preferred depends on what you mean by rough
