882446 2010-05-05 10:00:00 Hi. We received an email from TelstraClear in January this year stating "On 28 January 2010 we upgraded the maximum downstream speed of your LightSpeed 10G plan from 4Mbps to 10Mbps. "
Since about that time, I have found it virtually impossible to view videos online. Whether it's YouTube, tutorials, or whatever, they either do not load at all or they take an absolute age to start, go for 3 or 4 seconds, then just carry on in a stop/start manner. Very frustrating and annoying. Some web pages are also slow to download - I never noticed a particular problem in this regard before the "upgrade". We have cable broadband 10GB plan. Prior to this "upgrade" watching online videos was generally fine. Bloody terrible now. I get the same result on 2 PCs here at home, and also on my work laptop when it's connected to our cable. Time of day doesn't seem to make a difference either.

Have a look at this: www.geekzone.co.nz 31 page thread.

882448 2010-05-05 10:24:00 Thanks for that. It doesn't cheer me up - it makes interesting reading though.
It's not just YouTube that is slow. Sites such as layersmagazine.com, tutvid.com, killersites.com and others like them are hopelessly slow.
