883462 2010-05-10 00:31:00 Partner got this silly laptop given to her and I reformatted and installed
Puppy but must have stuffed up on where Grub was to go.
Now I get:
Grub loading
error file not found
grub rescue>
What is the command I can put in to get my relationship back on course ?

883463 2010-05-10 00:44:00 Boot to the puppy CD.
Reinstall GRUB.
Menu>System>GRUB bootloader config

(make sure to select MBR on the final step)

883464 2010-05-10 01:00:00 The puppy cd will no longer boot:
Compaq is VERY different. This is a 10 year old lappy with a 6GB HD
I think there is a command I can put in after the > that will help but
I can not remember it.I realise I have put grub in the wrong partition
but how do I correct it (I think it is on HD0)

883465 2010-05-10 01:16:00 If the CD will no longer boot you will need to change the
boot priority in BIOS setup.

883466 2010-05-10 01:22:00 It is possible you have overwritten the usually hidden recovery partition too. Sweep (90)
883467 2010-05-10 03:56:00 I did use G parted to reformat the disk before the install of Puppy but now
I can not reformat or anything.
The screen I get is wanting a command after the> I am sure.
I think I installed grub to partition "O" instead of "1"

883468 2010-05-10 04:02:00 Can't help with the command.
Will a Windows disk boot?
You could reformat with it and start again.
