801892 2009-08-17 09:06:00 When they have to quote Dover Samuels for a lead story ! Am pretty neutral either way as to whether Phil Goff is doing a good job as opposition leader. However there must be thousands of opinions on this, so why not quote someone with more credibility. You can always tell when the newspapers and television stations are short of imagination and stories.

801896 2009-08-17 09:36:00 Why did TV3 include Helen Clark's name in their poll for leadership when she is no longer an MP? ..........and why were people so thick as to vote for someone no longer eligible anyway?? Who are the thickest, TV3 or the pollees ?

Correct.

They have to print or broadcast something to give the people something to speculate on in my opinion. Much like I do here for example.

There is new news everyday mostly. Usually similar events world wide with different people involved.

They included Winston/NZ First in polls earlier this year, despite the fact that he is no longer in parliament.

And I did vote last November but I did not vote Labour or National.

Where I live, NZ First did not put up a candidate for election for some reason. Where I live was a Labour stronghold but they were soundly defeated by National in 2008.

I do note that the person elected came from out of town and has only recently put up an office in Tokoroa. I am referring to Mrs Louise Upston in the Taupo electorate. Mind you it was not much different when the previous MP from Labour was here. That guy was the Minister for Defence at one time.

If you note the phone number for her you will see she lives in the Hamilton area.

I guess TV3 has asked the questions.

My thought here is that a number of people do not know who the MP is for the area or feel that they can't approach them or do not want to for some reason. Possibly some have asked questions and have got the usual answer like Helen has been advised of your concerns and this will be from a public servant who was not voted in but has work for life.

801901 2009-08-17 10:28:00 Everybody has to live somewhere - even MP's. ;)

By living in Hamilton, she frees up someone else to live elsewhere, I hope that person is appropriately grateful. :D
