No one has been found to be a criminal for smacking their child. The media did a great job with this one, stirring up the public and spreading misinformation as usual to their own end, and to the detriment of the children. All that's asked of parents is that they raise them responsibly - if a parent doesnt know the difference tween a smack for disciplinary purposes and child abuse, maybe they should be attending parenting courses. By the way - Ive retired now - Ive seen the reality in child abuse, Id love for all who supported the petition to take the time and visit Starship hospital or any other hospital where kids are suffering after child abuse. Have a look at the damage some parents, most frequently MOTHERS, are foisting on their children. Most of us are good parents, we dont see the finished product, we dont see the wee kids whose parents have lost the plot, we dont see kids wracked with pain. Those 'good' parents know what a smack is, they know the difference, this is all a smoke screen and using children to lambaste the authorities is as cruel as child abuse itself IMO. |

Wait, that's absurd, almost as absurd as linking voting in the referendum and the victims of abuse in Starship hospital. We employ the Government to govern, On our terms. When they go too far (as they all do) they get a reaction. |
