802792 2009-08-29 03:54:00 I cant understand why there is so much outrage when a child is killed or assaulted, according to Family First, they and the larger part of the population want to be able to kick and kill their kids.

So, You think I demand the right to kill my children?

Your either a moron or.....no wait, Your just a moron.

Surely no sane person would say that the abused kids you deal with were just given a smack by a responsible parent - those sorts of kids are abused (physically, psychologically) and subject to neglect, rather than just disciplined. Kicking and killing kids is quite different from a smack - it's a bit like saying taking a fallen tree branch out of a national park is the same as illegally logging hectares of trees from a protected wildlife reserve.

Child abuse is abhorrent, was illegal before s59 was repealed, and would still be illegal if the Burrows amendment was passed.

My perception is fine, its the perception of much of the public in NZ thats screwed. They are the ones who do not know the difference tween a smack and abuse, so much so that they want it defined.

The repeal had nothing to do with the illegality of child abuse - but everything to do with stopping parents getting away with using weapons and claiming reasonable force. Burrows amendment would make no difference at all to the law or the illegality of child abuse.

I guess your so brainwashed that only the death penalty for a smack would make you happy. Time for you to have a career change..

Yeah, thats it exactly.:annoyed:

No wait, That's absurd.

Its about telling the government where the line in the sand is in regards to micro-management/interfering in peoples lives. We as a people do not accept criminal charges for disciplining our children.

The entire referndum was based on telling the Government they had gone too far down a stupid road not about gaining the rights to abuse our kids to death.

I think your a bit lost, and your perception may not be healthy.
