| 883990 | 2010-05-11 22:15:00 | Ok so I upgraded the HTPC with new MOBO GPU and Cpu The problem is I can't get any sound out of the new Mobo which funny enough is important with a HTPC M4A785TD-M-EVO Mobo looked good 8.1 surround and M-ATx HD 5770 which is mint Athlon x4 620 which was like $120 cheap aye I have just done a fresh install of win7/64 and ran the driver cd for Mobo which runs a VIA HD driver not a realtek Driver this is the point where I started to worry. Now when I plug an audio jack in it does sense in the Via user panel that I have plugged something in but still no sound. Any ideas? This is my second asus related sound problem involving that blasted Uaa support Driver a few years ago should have learnt my lesson |

| 883994 | 2010-05-11 23:13:00 | Hi Speedy I installed all chipset drivers and the onboard sound drivers I am trying to just use the good old green 3.5mm jack nothing fancy just a pair of headphones to start with I have also tried my surround system and an old set of speakers which all work on my main comps Lol great question, where do I check that the default sound is through the onboard sound? I do remember when I was installing the ati catalyst for the gpu It gave me an option to run the sound through the gpu card I'm pretty sure I clicked yes mainly because in the future I may want to, but I did think that it would still default to the onboard to start with |

One, what connector from the case to the motherboard did you use for sound? If there is a choice that could be an issue. Even though it seems irrelevant. Second when you installed the sound driver, Windows always pops up its hardware wizard. You MUST leave it there and ignore it and let the motherboard one continue. Otherwise that screws it up totally. Delete the lot and re do it again like that. |

| 883998 | 2010-05-12 01:45:00 | Yeah I installed all chipsets and drivers for the entire Mobo first that is always the first thing I do on a fresh install and then move down the list from the gpu on. I am plugging the speaker cables into the back of the mobo, the only other connection for sound on the mobo plugged in is the front HD audio for the case, good idea to check that I suppose make sure its tight or the sound is not coming out the front panel and not the rear mobo panel Cheers |
