I have to say the PCLinuxOS2010 is incredibly beautiful! What a fanstastic work! I was able to install it on to the 2nd HD-D. Now: a. How do I switch in between Vista & PCLiOS. Do I have to boot from BIOS every time I do? b. How do I go to use docs, other softwares etc currently in the 1st HD-C? Your support is again so very much solicited and appreciated. Thanks guys. |

It should have installed the GRUB bootloader which is the black screen you refer to (although in this case it would not be black). If you have installed Linux on a separate drive the simplest way to approach things is to have Linux as the primary then Windows as secondary. This should allow GRUB to appear but it might require some reconfiguring to allow the dual boot. |

| 883290 | 2010-05-09 06:13:00 | Can you boot to the PCLinuxOS installation from BIOS? If you boot to the Linux partition it should give the GRUB screen first, does it? If so, you should be able from PCLinuxOS to update GRUB from Start(in the bottom left corner)>System>Configuration>Boot and Init>Redo MBR It will ask for your password then the GRUB updater should detect your Windows installation and you take it from there. If that fails then a manual editing of GRUBs Menu.lst may be needed. |

At one stage, I got:GRUB loading stage 1.5 Pls wait followed by this: ERROR 17 Vista runs as normal. If there is not much hope, should I re-install and take care to get GRUB up and running although I have no idea how that can be achieved in the process. Thanks. |

| 883292 | 2010-05-10 01:01:00 | Error 17 indicates the partition could not be mounted. You could try booting to the PCLinuxOS CD and then redoing the MBR as in my previous post. I would have the boot priority set to CD first, Linux next. don't worry about the Windows drive, if GRUB is configured correctly it will chainload Windows for you |
