| 884541 | 2010-05-13 10:59:00 | Running XP Pro and I've tried to switch on the fax service. Add/Remove Programs - Windows Components - tick Fax - following which the Wizard asks me to insert my XP disc. I'm on an HP laptop 6710b and so far as I can recall, XP is already stored on it. No CD when I bought it. Solutions suggest searching the HD and finding the i386 files, one of which should be huge. So I did and found this C:\WINDOWS\ServicePackFiles\i386. It is 561MB and by far the largest i386 file. Tried cut and paste in the Wizard but no good. I'm at the end of my tether. Any suggestions?? |
