803613 2009-08-23 22:42:00 Get one that can blind scan so you can pick up any aussie channels if you are getting a digital satellite box. capricorn (11509)
803614 2009-08-23 22:48:00 I won't recommend a Free View tuner but, I have a Zinwell ZMT-620HD one which I have had for 2 months or more and are more than happy with it. I think this model has since been superceded.

803615 2009-08-23 22:48:00 The "Official" Freeview ones appear to be leading the contest for elevated prices by a wide margin. I got my own one from Trademe about 12 months ago, followed by a bunch for other people. One unit was faulty on installation, but the seller exchanged it instantly so no problems (except that they couldn't sell me a toaster). R2x1 (4628)

In that case you'll need one with a built in h.264 decoder, which will elevate the price a bit :(.

Here are two I found on TM:

1 (www.trademe.co.nz) 2 (www.trademe.co.nz).

There is also a list of official receivers here (www.freeviewnz.tv).

803618 2009-08-24 06:14:00 The Zinwell ZMT-620HD is a Freeview approved tuner which means it has been tested by www.freeviewnz.tv

803621 2009-08-24 07:35:00 Go here and check out the Vantage boxes:
http://www.dtvs.co.nz/

I just got myself a Vantage HD 6000T/NZ for $250 (Did a split with a friend, they have a deal: 2 for $500!) and I'm stoaked.

It's nice hardware, records video to the external HDD, but the only downside is the EPG only shows the name for the next show, even though it has the time-slots for the next few days...

Great so my other half can watch Home & Away / Shortland Street at her leisure :)

Full HD looks *so* much nicer, and even though we previously had shoddy as reception here (TV2 / 3 were horrible, snowy, 4-5 shadows..) it's absolutely perfect now with that box!
