2010-05-12 22:05:00 | Looks like this is going nowhere fast - tough one eh! :D Just a few more things to try if they have not already been done. Silly as it seems -- make sure the time and date ( day/month /year) on the PC are correct, if the date/time are too far out Windows wont update and errors. Make 100% sure there is no proxy running: 1.open your internet explorer 2.go to tools-->internet option-->go to tab Connections 3.click on LAN settings 4.at Proxy server UnTick the Use a proxy server for your LAN Make sure the host file hasn't had entries added to block MS -- its located at c:\windows\system32\drivers\etc\ Id reset the host file any way - since MS wont allow downloads, try This direct (go.microsoft.com) - its from The MS download site (support.microsoft.com) simply run it. Failing all that - Several suggestions on this site (social.technet.microsoft.com) - or force a windows update with The standalone installer (download.windowsupdate.com) - suggested from This site (www.microsoft.com) - scroll down to the user TonyM, has instructions.

2010-05-12 22:25:00 | Got that right lol. I'm just checking blanco out now. Umm something is blocking svchost (thats what the error means by the looks of it). I killed Win7's firewall, and the error changed. Hmm. Nothing in proxy. So, thats not the prob. 2 things Blanco and lvl had in common. This relevantknowledge thing was on both. And both have P2P programs. I'm just about to log back into Blanco's PC and check the hosts file. Now the error is 80072EE2 for Blanco | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-12 22:36:00 | Nothing like a good "problem" to keep you on your toes :p  Has This here (support.microsoft.com) been tried ?? PS: I expect number 6 to be done manually  and I know your reply ;)

2010-05-12 22:38:00 | Yup did that like 5 mins ago. Still no go. Disabled the firewall, (this changed the error tho) disabled Avast, added Microsoft servers to the trusted sites. Still no go | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-12 22:41:00 | Has what ever security software been completely uninstalled (not just disabled) using revo to get the reg keys s well and then tried, sometimes corrupted firewalls / Antivirus can cause all sorts of problems. Disabling does Sweet FA ! | wainuitech (129) | |
2010-05-12 22:44:00 | I removed regcure. No fw on it besides Win7's. Avast and onecare (windows messenger is installed I think). One of these errors, someone fixed it by uninstalling the NIC then rebooting. So windows reloads the drivers. This fixed it for some people (using XP). I'll copy and paste step 6 and make a bat file :p | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-12 23:00:00 | Just reading back through Blano's post I chose the Win7 Upgrade install in preference to a Fresh install to preserve all my folders, files & settings but the the problem has migrated from Vista To Win7 in the transfer. If it was there in Vista, then it may not be fixable, the system may have been changed to much - a fresh install would have been better OR fixed the problem in Vista first - which of course is to late now.. BUT --Tried this ???? (social.technet.microsoft.com) look for Joao - second to last post I'll copy and paste step 6 and make a bat file THATS CHEATING  :devil

2010-05-12 23:34:00 | Just reading back through Blano's post If it was there in Vista, then it may not be fixable, the system may have been changed to much - a fresh install would have been better OR fixed the problem in Vista first - which of course is to late now.. He may reinstall win7 without upgrading from vista. Hopefully this will work. I think thats the main prob. Have tried everything else, and all have failed. There's not a lot of options left to try
