......or even in Arthurian Britain. If you ever see the BBC series 'Merlin', (it can be found online) among the villagers and extras there is a goodly proportion of black 'african' faces, even Guinivere.

This really is political correctness in extreme madness. It would seem productions, no matter what era or where it is set, or how unlikely, have to have a black quota.

BBC say it is only available in UK (Merlin)

That is correct for live streaming, but you have to know where to look..........for example..........

There were Africans with the Roman Occupation before the Angles arrived.

Indeed there were, but probably not settled and intermarried in the numbers as suggested in the Merlin series.
Neither are there today afaik traces of those soldiers in the remaining Celtic areas (excluding Swansea :) ), though it would be interesting to find out.

This looks interesting:

Edit something wrong with the quote...

The Angles were quite happily there in Anglia before the Roman Invasion.
Wether the romans brought any Africans to England when they had the place occupied is unknown

Ooopsy, your history is a bit out there. The Saxons/Angles/Jutes etc were stiil in Europe.
The Romans certainly did have Africans in their army. Their army was mainly made up of 'foreign' recruits. There were just not enough Roman born citizens to make up the manpower.

As Terry has said, you're a bit out. Before the Romans it wasn't Anglia, the locals were "A Brythonic tribe, the Iceni, inhabited the county from the first century BC, to the end of the first century (AD). The Iceni revolted against the Roman invasion in 47 AD, and again in 60 AD led by Boudica. The crushing of the second rebellion opened the county to the Romans"

Back on topic. The main grizzle on the photographic websites is how bad the substitution was unless Microsoft actually swapped his head.

804659 2009-08-27 03:23:00 Get Microsoft and get a head.
As seen on Tui billboards everywhere.

(Did MS invent the Blues or just visualise it?)

Bugger I was wrong, they tried to invade when the romans were there.
I will put on sack cloth and roll in the dirt.
