1451828 2018-07-21 06:41:00 I may change this modem (the HG956) to something else. Only prob is:

1. the ont here, the pots1 isnt used for VF. So, i cant plug the phone into it. I've seen a lot of cheap routers but none of them have rj11/phone ports

Do these RJ45 to RJ11 adapters / converters work? Somehow, I dont think so.

Or should I get a modem / router, since (I dont think standalone routers) have phone ports?

i do have a tp-link adsl modem that can be used for fibre. but I'll probably buy an AC router/modem. Since, most of the adapters I use are AC

1451830 2018-07-21 08:09:00 There is a normal phone jack here. used it when I had ADSL. But, since you dont need it for fibre, I told VF to kill it.

Because, I was paying for something i didn't use, or need

1451831 2018-07-21 23:10:00 I may be missing some of the complexity, but on my VF Ultrahub there's simply a cable from the Phone1 on the hub running to the old phone jack point on the wall, and it 'livens' the old phone lines throughout the house (the copper has been disconnected at the point where it used to enter the house). Dunno and doubt if it provides 50v like the old phone lines did, but a modern phone (pluged in via mains power) works fine with this system.

Where the cable goes into the old wall jack the installer added a splitter, so one of the phones simply plugs in there, right beside the plug that connects it all to the modem.
