1449435 2018-05-10 17:34:00 I've got the Pi up and running pretty good but what's missing on it is Pithos .

I've installed a dongle USB sound card and Pi never complained and although I haven't heard a peep outta it yet - I've got my headphones installed and am waiting to actually hear something soon .

I "duckduckgo'd" the Pithos app and got this set of instructions - which I am c/p'ing to get it done correctly:

Installing from Source
TingPing edited this page on Oct 18, 2017 · 28 revisions

. com/pithos/pithos . wiki . git" target="_blank">github . com
Getting Source

The latest source can be downloaded by either git or by downloading an archive:

git clone . com/pithos/pithos . git" target="_blank">github . com
# Or
wget . com/pithos/pithos/archive/master . tar . gz" target="_blank">github . com
tar -xf master . tar . gz

Getting Dependencies
Pithos requires at least Gtk 3 . 18 + GLib 2 . 46 .

Package names vary by distro . If a distro is not listed here the package names for Fedora usually match up with upstream names .

Debian (Ubuntu)

sudo apt-get install meson python3-gi python3-gi-cairo \
gir1 . 2-gstreamer-1 . 0 gir1 . 2-gst-plugins-base-1 . 0 gstreamer1 . 0-plugins-good gstreamer1 . 0-plugins-bad \
gir1 . 2-secret-1 libgdk-pixbuf2 . 0-dev libglib2 . 0-dev gnome-keyring appstream-util libappstream-glib-dev \
python3-pylast gir1 . 2-appindicator3-0 . 1 gir1 . 2-keybinder-3 . 0 gnome-icon-theme-symbolic libxml2-utils gvfs
# Last line is optional

I'm trying to add Pithos and since the Pi runs Debian, I got the following posted in an attempt to get it installed:

. . . . . . . . . I believe is the problem .

Can anyone help me resolve it? I am betting it's the dependencies that are missing - right?

github.com

This page always confuses me - I'm not really sure what to do with it. Once in a while things just 'happen' correctly - but most times I just stare at it and wonder "What do I do now?"

your sudo apt-get line isn't right.

/ means the line should not split but continue. I think that meaning is not terminal related. So you would need to remove / and make it one line... but wait...

First try:

sudo apt-get install pithos

If that can't be found, then we add it's ppa (anything Debian, Ubuntu, Mint you should choose over source code installing, always look to source installs last, always!)

We try the install without the ppa just to check our default repository first. Repository software is preferred over adding ppa (ppa preferred over source) which are only made to get their software working but can break systems.

sudo apt-get-repository ppa:pithos/ppa
sudo apt-get update
sudo apt-get install pithos

See how that goes.
