1450005 2018-05-29 21:44:00 What happens if you open the Cam App ? ( from search -Cam)

This PC doesn't have a cam, so I get a black box saying cant find a camera. When I go to Cam app it asks for settings to be changed in Privacy Settings to allow app to use camera.

I switched on Camera but it still asks for permission. Perhaps I don't have that app?. Any clues as to how I can get this camera to work.?

In the search type Privacy - open privacy Settings. ( or go directly to Camera Privacy if its listed)

On the Left under App Permissions Click Camera - make sure its set to on, below that, turn on the apps you want to allow it to use.

1450007 2018-05-29 23:21:00 Tried that but still no joy with Skype. Thanks for trying I guess I will have to learn to be without Skype. Still annoying that it was working perfectly and I suspect it was a MS upgrade that killed it Pato (2463)

Another way to open the Camera, is Click on Start- Scroll down to C/Camera.

If its a permission problem, just located this.

Open File Explorer and go to Pictures
In Pictures folder, right click on the Camera roll folder and choose Properties
Go to Security tab
Choose your username, which is listed under Group or user names:
Click on Edit permissions and check Full control
Click OK

Failing that, you can reinstall the App. www.intowindows.com

You can also use Powershell ( slightly easier than the one above) www.askvg.com
You will be looking for the file

Ok that's good, this means the Cam is working in the OS.

Open Skype, Sign in, Along the top you'll see 3 dots:

Click Those, Settings, On the window from the drop Down box video, you can select your Camera. Turn it on to test, you'll get a message asking for skypes permission to use the cam - Agree -- you should then see yourself :) Check / Turn on /select the audio and microphone as well.

1450011 2018-05-30 04:17:00 That looks good. I didn't get a message asking for skypes permssion to use the cam. I seem to have lost all my contacts is there any way of getting them back.?

It looks as though I have to switch the test video on each time I use skype.?

I put skype on my tablet and I see all the contacts are on there, but I really need them on my desktop version. I suppose it will be easy when you tell me how.

1450012 2018-05-30 04:34:00 Ignore my comments re switching on the test video each time I use Skype. I see that it is not necessary. Pato (2463)
1450013 2018-05-30 05:07:00 All you should need to do is log into skype with your same account details and the contacts should come back, at least they always have for me. dugimodo (138)
