1452456 2018-08-11 03:20:00 It gets worse.

My wife, highly amused by my dismay at the "Responsibly grown Tomatoes" v “Irresponsibly grown Tomatoes”, has chosen to further irritate me by producing this little gem from some grocery Junk Mail.

Yes Chicken Stock approved by the RSPCA! :groan:

I take it no Chicken was harmed in the making of this product?

God only knows what the ingredients are, but I’m not buying a packet to find out. :)

Chicken Stock (98%) (Water, Chicken, Carrots, Celery, Cabbage, Onions, Parsley, Sage Extract, Rosemary Extract), Salt, Sugar, Glucose, Yeast Extract

I always read ingredients.

See this is fine....all except the sugar. Totally unnecessary to have sugar in stock, which is why I make my own and freeze it in small containers. (Sugar and glucose - so in other words, sugar and sugar)

What you do is get some bones, or a leftover chook carcass and chuck it in the pot with the ends off onions, carrot peelings, celery leaves or stalk ends, the herb stalks, salt and a little pepper and boil it up.
Strain it through a sieve - voila, stock.
And as cheap as dirt....

Ohhhh, I see, are the RSPCA in a position to approve these ingredients?

1452459 2018-08-12 22:12:00 Responsibly grown tomatoes must have ready access to a good steake at all times, so they'll grow into upright healthy adults. (Vegan grown tomatoes need not apply as they may be full of - err - used food.)

I always read ingredients.
I find it more useful to eat 'em
;)
