1452162 2018-07-31 09:36:00 Does this mean banks will now ask you for your password?

How else are they to know what it is unless they aren't telling us something.

Pfft. They already ask me for my fingerprint. At least it's easier to type than my password

1452164 2018-07-31 12:06:00 Bugger the O/S.
But people should take responsibility.
Exactly, clicking on things, handing out pin numbers, writing passwords down, using stupid passwords...etc etc

Sorry but dealing thusly to the reputed O/S is (C) MicroSoft.
;)

LOL, my point...relying on an O/S is silly. I could manage to stuff up my internet banking using Linux by clicking on an email asking for my details and filling it out.
An update won't help that.

An update won't help that. What I would love to see is the real figures, meaning How many Accounts have been actually "hacked into" compared to people filling out or clicking on fake sites / emails and giving their details to these scammers.

One safer way is to have the banks requiring you to enter a second code via your phone before allowing access. This way even if a scammer does get your details without the 2nd code they are dead in the water.

1452167 2018-07-31 22:10:00 What about Android banking apps ?
Are the banks going to kill those off those android banking apps, since the MAJORITY of androids will never be 'up to date' simply because we cant get
current updates for most of them (except a few , clean, newish, flagship models)

None.

Banks are like insurance companies and public office holders: REAL figures are just not going to be released. That is simply not how things are done, they have teams of advertising persons and PR types generating excellent figures for scattering among the hoi poloi.
Statistics CAN be useful in various ways, those distributed by financial or political figures are usually very nourishing for your garden.

"received a call from scammers earlier this week pretending to be from Spark, telling him hackers were using his internet to launder money .
The 55-year-old victimdidn't for a moment suspect he was being scammed, because the lie was so "sophisticated and realistic" .

Sophisticated huh . . . . right .

My point . . . .

1452171 2018-08-03 06:16:00 Reading articles WHY don't they call it what it REALLY is -- "People Freely giving out their Details" Dont sugar coat the fact these people got tricked /scammed.

These articles are a joke, obviously making comments like
but victims do not usually realise in time that they have been hacked. They DONT know what hacking really is. Freely giving your details is NOT Hacking.

All the security in the world, latest updates, strong passwords are useless if a person gives them out.
