1451858 2018-07-22 07:49:00 Agree here too. Bought a paperwhite when I was travelling overseas a fair bit and especially handy for those long stopovers. I found it had less strain on my eyes than using a laptop or tablet. Supposedly it is because the kindles use reflected light verses the tablet etc being back light. I preferred the paperwhite due to having it's own light where as the others rely on external light sources. pheonix (36)
1451859 2018-07-22 21:15:00 If you want some books PM me with What you may like, I Collected a "few" over the years.

Mostly I read SF, hard SF too.

And some non-fiction lately, how it was in ancient times, a few medical (Atul Gawande), and one or two Adventure books.(Not murder stories, not monsters, just boring old someone had a bad time type adventure)

1451860 2018-07-22 23:24:00 Definitely recommend these stories by Peter Watts, you need to read them in order, start with Starfish, my favourite was Blindsight:

You can download them for free here:

I've read heaps of SF in my younger days, about 10 years ago I found these books and had a rebirth of reading again, some of the best stories I've read.

1451861 2018-07-23 00:05:00 'Sirens of Titan' is an oldie , but a goodie .

I used to read a lot of Vonnegut's books .
I really only read non fiction now .
I pretty much gave up on fiction after reading through an interesting sci-fi book, only to have the final outcome of the story was 'he was dreaming the whole thing" . That lazy ending p*ssed me off .

Watts - read them all. Thanks.
