| 1451714 | 2018-07-18 10:44:00 | My wife and I have been married 44 years, with no remission for good conduct, I have a wife, not a partner, as a consequence of us making a personal legal commitment. It is the legal commitment that makes the difference, not whether it is in a church or a registry office. Sorry, I don't agree to being lumped in with all those who are not prepared to enter into a legal contract of marriage. I don't have a partner , i am married and have a wife (female) I am one of those dinosaurs that believes marriage is between a man and a woman, and no legislation any bloody politician may like to pass will change that as far as I am concerned. The concept of marriage is not just a religion based idea, it is also a civil arrangement to ensure protection of the woman(wife) and also any children of the union |

You are screwed just the same. Being married doesnt give you more or less legal rights then a defacto relationship. 27 years defacto,11 months married, yes the same one | plod (107) | ||

The concept of marriage is not just a religion based idea, it is also a civil arrangement to ensure protection of the woman(wife) and also any children of the union Protection from what? I have a friend who is gay. She has a partner, partner has kids. Kids were with a gay guy, no they didn't...he donated the needed, she used it. That way she got kids, and so did he. The kids go to both households, no different from any divorced family. They are perfectly happy with their mum and dad, and partners and are well bought up kids (oldest in his teens now) They all work and have quite good incomes. As for legal, partners ARE legal now, whether you actually marry, civil ceremony or do nothing at all other than move in. Son never married, but was with his partner 20 years. So it should have been a 50-50 split, except he pretty much let her keep everything except his PC and clothes. So what legal? What protection? |
