1451648 2018-07-17 21:41:00 We don't have a heat pump but an installer neighbour who lives a couple of doors away said exactly what Gary just posted. Said he would do a good deal for us but our house is pretty warm due to being relatively new and fully insulated. We have a log fire which we seldom use.

1451649 2018-07-17 21:50:00 My mum has one. When we move, I'm going to open up the fireplace again and install an inbuilt woodburner. piroska (17583)

1451651 2018-07-18 10:35:00 Maybe you should investigate a DVS? I think they work more efficiently for cooling and provide some heating. Based on your comments. Ask an expert
The people I know who have DVS swear by them.
Of course the people I know who gamble only pick winning horses ...

1451652 2018-07-18 22:16:00 I have a single Mitsubishi Heatpump in the lounge, it's very good but it can't really heat the whole house so I either have to close off the bedrooms and hall and keep the living area warm or leave it all open and accept a cooler temperature. Faced with the Idea of installing a second one though I'm considering a small woodburner just for the 1-2 months I would use it if I can figure out where to put one. dugimodo (138)
1451653 2018-07-19 04:58:00 We had a DVS, disconnected the POS not longer after we got here...... piroska (17583)
1451654 2018-07-19 20:28:00 We bought a home that we later found to be a fish bowl. Water pouring down windows every morning, terrible situation. We installed a DVS (no heating) and what a magnificent difference. Our later homes we installed Mitubishi heat pumps and swear by them. I always go for the model above what the experts say. They seem to go by a chart perceived to be best for the volume of the room but I feel one up gives better performance. Bryan (147)
1451655 2018-07-20 00:02:00 We had a DVS in our old house before the earthquake, I concur with piroska, an expensive POS. zqwerty (97)

Heatpumps go great in the ceiling space - then you can run ducts to wherever you like in the house and only a small outlet vent is seen. (and no noise)
