They will never find out if some of the miners could have been rescued, which was unlikely anyway. Who was responsible for covering up some of the gas sensors, and how many did not take/replace their tags at the entrance. A sad situation but I think as many want to move on as don't. | Arnie (6624) | ||
| 1451538 | 2018-07-15 02:21:00 | People have been playing politics with this far to long already. Nobody is ever going to come up with answers which will ever satisfy everyone. Blaming Key or English makes as much sense as trying to pin it on Little who was the union official that said the mine was safe. | CliveM (6007) | ||

| 1451540 | 2018-07-15 03:20:00 | The problem is weve gone from a nation of achievers, to a nation of non-achievers. Hell, wed never be able to construct the roads, railway lines, electricity reticulation, hydro dams, etc. these-days that our forefathers did, especially with the machinery available to them. And if you want further evidence of how useless weve become, take a look at the Christchurch rebuild. Anyway, back to Pike River, I still reckon open up an Expression of Interest among suitable Mining and Civil Engineering companies and see what they come up with. Tell them they can have the coal if they get the bodies out. :D |

| 1451541 | 2018-07-15 07:22:00 | I just can't believe the $26 million to begin with, I'm afraid I haven't really been paying attention Basically I'm over it. | Clod (7853) | ||
| 1451542 | 2018-07-15 07:55:00 | Basically I'm over it. That’s what they are relying on: “Walk Away”. Typical NZ attitude of today. :mad: "Harden Up" I say. ;) |

However, I suspect Labour have made the promises, got the votes, and are now looking for a way to wriggle out the situation. Time will tell. ;) I suspect that Labor will put it off until about a month before the next election just to look good. |

| 1451545 | 2018-07-16 10:09:00 | What a bloody rip off! We can't pay the nurses who save lives all the time, yet they seem to be prepared to spend $26Million on recovering the remains. That will not be the end of it. The bodies will be in such a state that DNA testing will have to be done to identify them. I ask you; would you rather remember your loved ones as they were when you last saw them, or as a stinking, rotting pile of bones? They are already buried, leave them in peace. The mine is not going to be reopened, so erect a Marble wall at the blocked entrance with the names of the deceased, and a garden. Leave them in peace. They don't deserve the indignity of being shovelled into sacks and disposed of. |
