| 1451828 | 2018-07-21 06:41:00 | I may change this modem (the HG956) to something else. Only prob is: 1. the ont here, the pots1 isnt used for VF. So, i cant plug the phone into it. I've seen a lot of cheap routers but none of them have rj11/phone ports Do these RJ45 to RJ11 adapters / converters work? Somehow, I dont think so. Or should I get a modem / router, since (I dont think standalone routers) have phone ports? i do have a tp-link adsl modem that can be used for fibre. but I'll probably buy an AC router/modem. Since, most of the adapters I use are AC |

Dunno and doubt if it provides 50v like the old phone lines did, but a modern phone (pluged in via mains power) works fine with this system. Where the cable goes into the old wall jack the installer added a splitter, so one of the phones simply plugs in there, right beside the plug that connects it all to the modem. |
