1451638 2018-07-17 03:28:00 Looking at getting a Heat Pump in Auckland for our Home Unit which is smallish 2 bedrooms. The main bedroom wall backs on the lounge. One Heat Pump in the Lounge which has a small conservatory and maybe the main bedroom. Our Unit keeps quite warm and hot so mainly want it for the air cond cooling and the heating only a few times in the Winter. Will get it paying for it on our rates so they have a number of suppliers listed. Can anyone recommend a size thanks and a Brand? A few people have suggested Mitsubishi. Cheers. bruciebear (1478)

you need to get an installer out to have a look. what size is required depends on the size of the house and also its insulation value. plus spot any installation issues.
see what brand(s) they suggest. often they can supply them cheaper than what you can buy them from a shop.

1451641 2018-07-17 06:25:00 We just got a Heatpump installed. SWMBO did a LOT of looking and reading of reviews, got a Mitsubishi in the end, really happy with it :)

The installer mentioned the two best are either Daikin or Mitsubishi.

We were lucky, Harvey Norman screwed up with stock after we had already paid for it, a week and a half later one of the shop staff tried to flog off another brand, but SWMBO said NO way !!! :annoyed::groan::angry - The manager agreed with her, then upgraded us to the next model up at no extra cost.

1451642 2018-07-17 08:22:00 I recently got a Mitsubishi Electric GL25 for the bedroom. It is the quietest model available which is important if you are running it while sleeping. No issues with it. It is worth shopping around for a quote once you know what size you need. I got mine from https://www.heatandcool.co.nz/ which is out West, but they cover all of Auckland. Very happy with their service.

I also have an older Mitsubishi Electric heat pump in the living room that is much larger and has been running for 8 years without a hiccup.

You have two heat pumps and still have to do your own hiccups?
What's the world coming to?

1451644 2018-07-17 10:33:00 We have Mitsubishi floor models. They are the 2 white boxes in the picture, one in the centre the other at the far end of the room. Nominally 4kW each

Wall units would have been cheaper but the fan has to work harder to get the heat down to floor level

1451645 2018-07-17 11:10:00 We have a Mitsubishi floor mounted and happy to have paid the extra for it, don't have that much wall and feel it works better. We have only occasionally used it for cooling. Although it can cool I think it works best for heating.
Regarding size etc you shouldn't be on here asking a bunch of weird PC geeks about real world stuff, get a heat pump person to come and provide advice and a free estimate

1451646 2018-07-17 11:42:00 We have a Panasonic for 2 years now. So-far-so-happy with it. bk T (215)
1451647 2018-07-17 19:38:00 Was talking to our installer at work who says floor models do work best as the heat is put out where it should be low down, also he recommends Panasonic since most of the other makes buy their internals from Panasonic anyway. He also told me when Twizel had the -22c a few years ago Panasonic were the only ones to still work, I cannot verify this though. gary67 (56)
