1449974 2018-05-26 07:41:00 My dad has an old win 7 Dell laptop and use it less frequently. So it is not surprising when he forgot the password. Actually, this is not a big deal as there are tons of free and paid programs would fix this. However, I don't know what is wrong with Dell. I am using Ophcrack and it works like a charm on my HP laptop. Is dell running tough security policy? manuokcz (17615)
1449975 2018-05-26 08:00:00 Is dell running tough security policy? Not as far I'm aware. Wouldn't bother with Ophcrack, to outdated, why not simply boot from a CD and remove the password, then boot in normally (without password) and re-create one if still required.

Download on a accessible working PC Lazesoft Recovery Suite www.lazesoft.com Make a CD ( not to sure if there's a USB option, been a while since I made a new Disk) use reset password - Remove the password by leaving the user account /password option blank - reboot, password gone :)

In Windows 10 if you have a email address/password theres other software that will remove /alter the password as well ;)

Ophcrack used to work well on my Windows 7 computer. It seems the free edition of Lazesoft only supports CD boot.

1449977 2018-05-28 03:42:00 It seems the free edition of Lazesoft only supports CD boot. which is exactly what you want. If you are locked out you cant get past the password to run programs normally. wainuitech (129)

Do you think the Ophcrack can help you ? OMG , An old desktop computer came across an old tool . You can't do it,My sister has tested it before and she has failed countless times.
as wainuitech said , why not boot the locked computer from your CD/DVD/USB , or you can even boot from password reset disk ......., It's more convenient than using the Ophcrack .

1449983 2018-06-05 09:49:00 Ophcrack has been popular over the past few years ,But now, Microsoft is always updating ,so the Ophcrack is not enough to solve this problem.
Maybe you need to create a password reset disk to reset the password , just like this : www.tunesbro.com
