885942 2010-05-18 04:26:00 I have a hdd that is majorly fragmented.
I am using Diskeeper Lite as my defragment program but it is taken 4 passes so far and not yet complete.

Is there a freeware defrag program that will defrag in one pass?

885943 2010-05-18 04:52:00 Do it in safe mode. Or use defraggler, Auslogics defrag, Puran Defrag. Most need more than 1 pass to defrag Speedy Gonzales (78)
885944 2010-05-18 04:53:00 JkDefrag (recently renamed mydefrag) is good.

No installation required just run the exe.

Actually just looked at MyDefrag. It does require installation. JkDefrag doesn't.

And yes, stick to the older version 3.36 here (kessels.com) - chuck it in C:\ and run it in safe mode.

Just make sure you 're run a few passes of CCleaner/Glary utilities to remove any temp files etc. Best to leave it running overnight TBH
