2010-05-18 09:54:00 | Well it did say IE5 on the webpage. Ah .. yeah. At least I didn't had to install SP4 again. I may post something else. Either my DVDRW is acting a bit funny on Win7. Well at least it used to work a week ago on XP. If you go to Device Manager it is not even listed. On "Computer" it;'s not listed but I think it may pop up when it runs a CD right? 2 days ago or yesterday it did read CDs but today didn't read any DVDs. Hmmm... shouldn't need a driver.

2010-05-18 11:05:00 | I'll have a look at it. XP is on a spare HD. Just tried playing a CD - doesn't work but the drive does open and close. Maybe check cables, check bios, play with XP. Is the DVD drive usually listed in device manager? Does it list itself on "Computer" under the hard drives (even when it doesn't have a disc in it)? I know the USB flash drives don't show up until you plug them in.

2010-05-18 11:13:00 | The DVD has to appear in the BIOS , so windows will see it. It has to appear in device manager as well. Or as you found out you cant use it. It appears in computer under devices with removable storage (In windows 7). Does the cd open? If it doesn't, I would open the case, and see if the cable / power are connected | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-19 00:03:00 | It does open, will need to check it out. Maybe boot it up and see ... | Nomad (952) | |
2010-05-19 04:11:00 | I popped a Windows DVD in the machine - booted up. Restarted the PC normally and my DVD drive was working again. Weird. Before the DVD drive wasn't in Device Manger. Now it is even without a disc. :D I now know it shoudl always be in Device Manager but on "Computer" the drive only pops up when you put a disc in it.

2010-05-19 04:15:00 | Sounds like something is stuffed then. The icon for it should also be in computer | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-19 04:37:00 | Just checking again. If I open Computer. It is listed if you highlight Computer on the left side or if you just opened Computer. But on the left side under Computer it says C: D: E: the DVD Drive does not show there. Maybe I was mistaken with that ...

2010-05-19 04:41:00 | It should appear on the right hand side when you open computer under the hdds (under devices with removable storage (well it does here). Its either stuffed or youre using some kind of program (like Roxio / maybe daemontools thats stuffing things up, inc the DVD) | Speedy Gonzales (78) | |
2010-05-19 04:50:00 | It's on the right as I just found. On the left it's not there unless a disc is in.
