884985 2010-05-15 03:40:00 I do have another Hard Drive connected. If I install windows on there will it delete all the files that are already on it?
It's no longer under warranty.

884986 2010-05-15 03:45:00 If you do a clean install on the other hdd, then it'll delete everything. With the 500 GB hdd, I would take it back, if its under warranty. Tell them thats its got the affected version of the firmware (SD15) on it. See if they can replace it or update the firmware (hopefully, without bricking it). And you cant install Windows on it, because of this. Or else it may fail completely. Or burn the ISO from the link I posted. Then boot from it, if you want to fix it yourself. Make sure you get the right ISO for your hdd Speedy Gonzales (78)
884987 2010-05-15 04:01:00 The HDD is no longer under warranty. I updated the firmware and it is now recognised by the BIOS but still not in Vista install list. hmmmmmm lvlrhotshot (15773)
884988 2010-05-15 04:04:00 Thats good then. You're booting from the vista dvd right? Not trying to install from within windows? Speedy Gonzales (78)
884989 2010-05-15 04:05:00 ahhhhh good point...didnt think of that.... lvlrhotshot (15773)
884990 2010-05-15 04:07:00 You have to reboot change the bootdisk to the dvd then boot from it (press a key when it tells you to). You cant install Vista from within windows (if its on the same hdd youre going to format / reinstall on) / while youre in it Speedy Gonzales (78)
884991 2010-05-15 06:01:00 Clean install - check!
Windows update working - check!
Looks like everythings back to normal...fingers crossed!
Thanks Speedy!
